Here are my five pieces of advice for future volunteers serving on the Navajo Reservation in St. Michaels, Arizona.

1. Don’t drive on the dirt roads for at least three days after it rains.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.  Leave for sunset hikes before the sun starts to go down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Left and right are not used for directions. You will need to navigate using North, South, East, and West.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.  Stick with your community, always.
