Marissa Black: Guyana, South America

Hello friends and family! As many of you know, I am graduating from Azusa Pacific University this May with a journalism degree. It has been an incredible opportunity studying this field as I’m passionate about learning others’ stories and working to communicate their experiences. This August, I will be able to pursue my passions in people and their stories by joining the Mercy Volunteer Corps (MVC) in Guyana, South America. I will spend a year serving those who have been marginalized and am working to raise at least $1500 to financially support the mission of Mercy Volunteer Corps. Even a small donation of a few dollars will make a difference and help me to reach (or exceed!) my goal. I firmly believe Jesus is found in the margins of society where people are excluded due to factors they usually cannot control, and I feel led to serve in this sector of society.
