MVC OFFERS HEALTHCARE PLACEMENTS IN THE USA & SOUTH AMERICA.
Mercy Volunteers serving in the healthcare field are placed either in a hospital or at a health center. Clinical experience is available for nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, health advocacy, and pastoral care.
Some volunteers serving in the healthcare field often apply for medical school during their year of service. Other volunteers are offered full-time positions at their service sites following their year of service. Make sure to check out our education discounts for MVC alumni!
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Submit your application by January 24 for priority in selecting your service site and city!

PROFESSIONAL PLACEMENTS
Mercy Volunteers serving in the healthcare field gain professional experience at accredited institutions across the U.S. and South America. Mercy Volunteers serving as registered nurses must be licensed to practice in the state where they will volunteer. Our service sites guide volunteers in the process of obtaining these licenses. Each of these positions is supported by a site supervisor who ensures that our volunteer is gaining professional experience and is fully immersed in their service site. MERCY MEDICAL CENTER
Baltimore
Nursing/Healthcare Advocate: Two volunteers are needed to serve either as a Nurse working in a unit that matches the volunteer’s skills/interests or as a Healthcare Advocate, creating and implementing programs that aim to reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes for socioeconomically disadvantaged patients.
BON SECOURS MERCY HEALTH
Cincinnati
Wellness: Two volunteers are needed as a spiritual care assistant and advance care planning support specialist. Responsibilities include assessments and referrals, conducting follow-up phone calls to patients, providing educational resources, and maintaining patient charts. Training is provided.
ST. FRANCES CABRINI CLINIC
Detroit
Health Advocacy and Administration: The volunteer supports the daily operations of the clinic as a clinic assistant. The volunteer will provide hospitality, support patient intake and documentation, and assist with patient education.
GEORGIA INFIRMARY
Savannah
Nursing: A volunteer is needed as a nurse assessing daily care needs of the day center participants.
GOOD SAMARITAN CLINIC
Savannah
Health Advocacy: A volunteer is needed as a registered nurse for patient care or medical assistant to initiate the intake process, document in EMR, assist with translation, and place follow-up phone calls to patients. Conversational Spanish is required.
ST. MARY’S HEALTH CENTER
Savannah
Health Advocacy: A volunteer is needed as a medical and between medical and administrative assistant to schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, assist in new patient intake, and provide health education.
ST. JOSEPH’S/CANDLER EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Savannah
Health Advocacy: A volunteer will serve within the emergency department as a health coach by identifying, educating and assisting patients in establishing and maintaining a primary care office.
