Mercy Volunteer Corps’ got you covered!

Housing

Mercy Volunteers live in a fully furnished house or apartment in communities of 3-6. MVC covers rent and all utilities during your year of service.

Transportation

From Orientation in August to your service site, during your year of service, to all retreats, and back home again after your year of service is complete.

Stipends

Volunteers receive both personal and community stipends. Community members pool stipends to purchase groceries and household items.

Health Insurance

Mercy Volunteers receive health insurance through their service site or Catholic Volunteer Network. Volunteers can also be reimbursed if already covered.

Student Loan Deferment

Most Mercy Volunteers are able to defer their loans during their year of service with Mercy Volunteer Corps through proof of commitment. Please contact your lender to verify.

Professional Growth and Development

Develop your skills and gain new experience at your service site that can be helpful in obtaining employment after your volunteer experience.

Retreat Opportunities

Mercy Volunteers attend four retreats yearly across the United States. Orientation Retreat, Transition Retreat, Fall Retreat, and Winter Retreat expenses are all covered.

Education Discounts

Volunteers who successfully complete their year of service are eligible for a number of educational discounts for graduate, law, and medical school. View a complete list here.

Social Justice

MVC offers unique opportunities to engage with social justice issues across the United States. Volunteers visit the United Nations, attend rallies, and appeal to political officials.
