Exploring a New Culture
The most life-giving part of my experience so far is being able to experience and be welcomed and apart of the Navajo culture. I have been to so many different ceremonies, invited over to the homes of co-workers and friends that I have made out here, and I try to explore as much as possible when I can. One thing that I wanted to do when I applied for my year of service was to go somewhere that wasn’t just a place where I was simply volunteering, but a place where I would also be able to learn about and immerse myself in the culture. I have no doubt in my mind that I found the right place! Even though my year is already halfway done, I am going to take the remaining months by the horns. I am beyond thankful for this experience, I love where it has taken me, and I’m eager to see where the road continues to lead me.
